OSIA Bulletin: That's Life on CBS In Jeopardy

On the heels of OSIA's Appeal directly to CBS to keep "THAT'S LIFE"  on it's schedule, today OSIA is urging other Italian American Organizations to join them in their Appeal, and urging a "grass roots" Appeal to CBS by all individuals of the Italian American Community who care about positive portrayals of our culture.

I expect to hear shortly from at least NIAF, UNICO, COPIAMO, & CIAO-NY.

OSIA BULLETIN:

The Sons of Italy's Commission for Social Justice urges all concerned Italian Americans to contact CBS today to urge the network to keep the series THAT'S LIFE on the air.

The program features a working class Italian American family in New Jersey, its values, close family and neighborhood ties, work ethic, and strong Italian American traditions. It stars Paul Sorvino, Ellen Burstyn, and a cast of talented young actors.

"CBS pays very close attention to opinions expressed by the public on its viewer hotline," a CBS publicist told the CSJ yesterday.

In your message be sure to urge the network to put the program on a better evening [Sunday through Thursday] and give it a better time slot. It currently airs on Saturday nights at 9, but is often pre-empted by reruns of TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL.

Call today. And while on the line, be sure to praise FIRST MONDAY, the new CBS series that features Joe Mantegna playing Joe Novelli, an Italian American who sits on the U.S. Supreme Court.

DONA DE SANCTIS PERSONAL LETTER:

What have you done to THAT'S LIFE? I have looked for it the past two weeks Saturday nights at 9 only to find boring reruns of Touched by an Angel.

THAT'S LIFE is one of the best shows on TV...It stresses family values, work ethic, friendship and community spirit in entertaining scripts with strong and unforgettable characters. It is "must see" tv for families, young people, and seniors.

Please give this series a chance! Put it on a better night, give it a better time slot, and please stop pre-empting it. This show rocks!

Kudos to CBS for this show and for FIRST MONDAY. There are about 24 million Americans of Italian descent in this country. We are delighted to see CBS presenting us in such an authentic and positive light.
