Tomorrow as many of you may know is Ash Wednesday, and even if you are not
from the Roman Catholic faith, you will know when you see people walking
around with a black smudge on their forehead. Religion plays a very big part
of the life and culture of the Italians, and today kicks off the season of
Lent and leads up to one of the 2 holiest days of the year for the Catholics,
Easter, the day Christ had risen from the dead (the other of course, is
Christmas, Christ's birth, and when we see examples of some of the finest
food in an Italian family's kitchen). We have a new section up, a directory
of Roman Catholic churches at:
www.sicilianculture.com/rc
- - It is still under construction, but if you want to get to church today,
check it out, I know many churches have mass at 7pm tonight to accommodate
the working class people.
Now, after we are done fasting on Wednesday, time to start feasting with
your mate on Thursday! At
www.sicilianculture.com/food
you will find tons of recipes, music selections to set the mood, and we even
have a list of aphrodisiacs -- and of course, don't forget America's favorite
aphrodisiac... alcohol!
www.sicilianculture.com/bar
-- just remember, as Dean Martin says "if you drink, don't drive, don't even
putt" -- there has never been a better time to convince your mate to spend
a night if you don't already live together ;-)
Good Luck, and remember,
if it works out, or if it don't -- don't blame us!!! ;-)
