Sincere 2002 Happy Holiday Greetings!

We all hope you enjoyed a traditional holiday season. We finally got our "White Christmas" here in the New York City Metro Area after 30 years. I bet you will not hear anyone complain about not having a white Christmas for a while now since it really messed up those traveling.

For those of you who didn't, this is what you missed:  www.sicilianculture.com/food/xmasfish.htm
You might want to try it for New Year's Eve. But if you don't care for fish, check our homepage at www.sicilianculture.com for typical culinary New Year's Eve Traditions.

New Year's Resolutions. The end of another year is here. But let's not think about it as the end, but as a new beginning to over come an unfortunate circumstances which has plagued the world, not just terrorism but corporate greed has played nearly an equal part in the downfall of the world economy. For this reason, we urge you to boycott products from such celebrities and retail chains that carry products with their name on it.

Italian of the Year 2002 www.sicilianculture.com/awards
Our past recipients have included such persons as Columbus and Giuliani. This year, rather than focus on one person, we want to focus on one group of people. The immigrants. It is true, not all immigrants who have come here have been the most sterling members of American Society. But one thing is for sure, none of the past waves of immigrants have ever entered this country hoping to use the money of the taxpayers to pretend to be looking for a higher education while training for a major terrorist hit while posing as our friends, neighbors and citizens. Immigrants from days gone by built our highways, fought for our freedom and never whined, cried or sued when they were served with an injustice by the US Government. Today some immigrant groups burn our flag in our own streets, are handed US Government loans to buy businesses and send the money back to their homeland where it could just as easily be used to feed a hungry family, or support a radical terrorist group. The next time you walk into an establishment that has a radical cable news channel on from a terrorist country, don't say a word, just walk out.

So how else do we get even? The US Military is handling that and we should not forget that there are many different people and cultures who are on our side both in the US and abroad in other countries that share our concern. Remember, prejudice does not solve the problem, never let a few bad grapes ruin the whole vineyard. Just as we need to rememer that not all Italians are linked to organized crime, we also need to realize not all foreigners or immigrants hate this country and our stealing our money while plotting against us. But again, how do we hit these radicals back economically like that have done to us? The answer is simple. Find out which gas stations import the most oil outside those countries who support terrorism. Petroleum and gasoline come from many different countries throughout the world. Boycott those who support known terrorists, and start buying from gas stations who import the most oil from OTHER countries. Learn about the products and services you purchase, and avoid those that deal with these countries. Especially around this time of year, it is easy to buy imported liquors, beer and wine and even caviar. Make sure these products you buy come from countries that support the fight against terrorism and never, under any circumstances, buy a product from a country that is a known haven of terrorists. NEVER take the attitude "just one bottle, just one jar, just one gallon, will not hurt." It will. Remember these are perfectly legal, peaceful methods of hitting back. Leave law enforcement to the government, but we as citizens must take hold of our economic destiny. Buy more US products, and if you have to buy imports, again, know where they come from. And, again, we salute the past waves of immigrants who have made the USA the most powerful, inventive country in the world and have made countless contributions to humanity and the world. Are we perfect? Hardly, but if you do not believe that we are the best… leave. And when you have spent enough time in another country, then you will believe it. If you still don't, stay out, we will be fine without you. Don't destroy what we have out of spite or jealousy. But, if you must, join the military of the country of your choice and fight us. Don't murder innocent civilians, man or woman, children and rescue workers who try to save lifes for a salary that is laughable. Remember, heroes die but once, but cowards like terrorists die a thousand times. (Shakespeare).

On a happier note, now more than ever, we must recognize how important each day is, and must enjoy it. We must become closer as a nation and as family and friends, we never know what awaits us in the world today.

So no matter what your plans are for this last week of 2002, whether its family, friends, out on the town, please remember, not just Americans, but the rest of the world has been through a lot these past year on top of all the other economic problems we already have. So take extra time and patience to travel, and a little extra understanding with the person that cuts you off on the highway. And if you must really have that extra drink, leave the car at home, and pay $7 or $10 or whatever for a cab. Trust me, it will ultimately be the very best investment you will ever make in your life. Take it from a world class famous drinker… for those of you who are Dean Martin fans, remember how he put it -- when "If you drink, don't drive - - don't even putt!" Enough said.

Buon Natale & Felice Anno 2003!!!

Sincerely,
