Hey Paisan!  There Goes The Neighborhood!

"NJ Independent", a northern NJ weekly newspaper serving 16 towns and two cities.

March 15, 2001 - - "Move over 'Sopranos'! Cable TV's newest dysfunctionlal family may be filming in your town soon in Provolone Productions's cable series pilot, 'Hey Paisan!' The creators are Pompton Lakes locals, John Doby and Jude Flori, who describe the series as 'what might be a remedy for entertainment's Mafia overkill'.

'Sin in Suburbia' written by John Doby, writer and creator of 'Hey Paisan', is the title of the script that won Doby 1st place in Hollywood's SCRIPTAPALOOZA TV competition for best pilot. This effort on the part of Doby was in good company. Winners in the 1/2 hour-sitcom category were Sharon Felder Roth for 'Friends' (the One with the Yankee Skipper) and David Green for'The West Wing' (Children Go WhereI send Thee) in the one-hour episode category.

The pilot is slated to shoot March and April 2001 in Bloomfield and Old Bridge, and the surrounding area. 'Hey Paisan!' features Tony rossi, of 'College', the emmy award-winning episode of 'The Sopranos' and Cyndi Lynch, WWF's own Miss Bobcat. Sal Piro, another' on-again-off-again' Soprano, recently co-stared on 'The Awful Truth with Michael Moore'. The colorful cast of characters includes Elaine Del Valle, Darryl K. Brown, Lee Feldman, Richie Gamba, Lenny Mancuso, Joe Abbate and Jason W. Fuchs.

In a recent casting call to discover a fresh, new face, the producers found 9 year old, Nutley-native, John Ventura, to tell the tale of an immoral family, the Carbones.

'Don't worry', says jude Flori, Co-Producer/Co-Director, 'Hey Paisan! isn't aimed at offending Italians; it's guaranteed to offend everyone equally'. Flori says to get ready to toss good old family values out the window as this bouncy, cutting edge comedy takes you for a ride on the wild side.

The 'Paisan' creators say 'Every one of us has a cross to bare (sic), demons to confront, and baggage to carry through life. It's time to laugh at the dark side of humanity as the Carbone's basic lack of morals leads them on a crusade to indulge every sin in the book. If you've ever entertained sinful fantasies, or taboo thoughts, welcome home'.

What of its creators? 'We'll definitely stand out at the film festivals' laughs John Doby, 'but we'll still blend in at the supermarket".
