American Lynching

A Reassurrance and Request from Gode Davis, the documentary filmmaker producing "American Lynching", in response to my further inquiry, that was originally brought to the attention of IAOV members by Jimmy Ruzzo of Nutley N.J.
Gode Davis writes:
The lynching of Italians ( at least 49 so far documented) is not much known by mainstream Americans now -- but will be after our film is released.
I will also add this -- Even during the times when Italians were targeted for lynching in this country, many Italians living in large urban centers, and also officals and supporters from Italy and its environs -- protested loudly and shrilly. This fact alone did much to limit and end the mostly labor related but at times race related lynchings of Italo-Americans in this country.
If not for that advocacy -- no doubt hundreds of Italians would have met similar grisly fates.
...my website only hints at (a number of) other (than Italian) groups too --...it is not meant to be complete at this time. Maybe after the film is released -- that is the first priority -- the website (now) is only to give people a glimpse into what happened.
The only exception -- if someone would like to compose a piece for the "Infamous Lynchings" pages or literary references that is related to the lynchings of Italian-Americans -- we would consider it for anonymous posting on the website.
Also, if anybody has anything Italo-related (images or prose or whatever) that might be suitable for our section on Italian lynchings in the film, it would be eligible for insertion into our content base. We're always looking for such content.
