Willibrord

7, 739 AD
Born in Northumbria, St. Willibrord was the Bishop
of Utrecht, an Apostle of the Frisians, and the son of St. Hilgis. He
died at Echternach, Luxemburg. Willibrord had made his early studies
at the Abbey of Ripon near York, as a disciple of St. Wilfrid, and then entered
the Benedictine Order. When twenty years old he went to Ireland and spent
12 years in the Abbey of
Rathmelsigi.
