Born in Swabia, he got his education from the
Abbey of Reichenau on Lake Constance. In AD 964 he became a monk at
Einsiedeln (modern-day Switzerland). He was named Bishop of Regensburg in
972 (modern-day Germany). He had a reputation for giving alms to the
poor resulted in a title of "the Great Almoner". After his death, there
were numerous reportings of healings in Regensburg, many of which were stomach
disorders.
